About
I have been working as a freelance graphic and web designer, since the beginning of 2007. Prior to going off on my own, I earned my B.S. in Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) and my M.S. in the Human Factors Engineering option of ISE (both from Virginia Tech). Upon completing my graduate studies, I worked at Virginia Tech for 15 months, where I first began working in Photoshop®. I then moved on to work at an engineering consulting firm for over 5 years.
At my previous job, I began taking on many tasks outside the realm of engineering, which included working with Photoshop®, Illustrator®, InDesign®, and Flash®. In my spare time, I began working more and more on images, illustrations, artwork, and websites, and I realized this kind of work was much more enjoyable to me than a bulk of the engineering work that I had been doing. Eventually, I left my former job and started working as a freelance designer.
I have had the privilege of working with clients from a very broad range of fields, including academia, art, athletics, chemistry, engineering, music, real estate, as well as retail. I always look forward to working in new areas. Check out my portfolio to view a sampling of some of my recent work.
When I’m not working, I enjoy running, lifting weights, SCUBA diving (preferably with sharks), music, recreational photography (I especially enjoy taking pictures of sharks), and learning new techniques in Photoshop® and Illustrator®.
